Revelation Skirmish tournament - anyone willing to report?

Revelation Skirmish tournament - anyone willing to report?

Postby HawkGer » 31.05.2010, 21:47

CMC is hosting a tournament (TMU based) on the 12th June. Apparently a new mapping technology will be revealed in the course of that event which is supposed to be even more revolutionizing than the invention of blockmixing was. No particular information is yet revealed of that technology but we have to assume it could be very valuable for United RPG trackbuilding. Maybe even Stadium RPG, if that technology is transferable to stadium.

Unfortunately I will probably not be at home on that date...so my question is if anyone here would be willing to team up with someone to take part in that contest and maybe report back here on that new technology so that we will all be informed? ^^

Here's some information: ET Forum :: View topic - [CONTEST] Revelation Skirmish

Sorry to say but I think the technology that you are going to see isn't new, I have already used it in a stadium mod Oasis
This was just a test mod and it involves editing mipmaps in your textures.

That would be very disappointing indeed. But I don't think CMC, Rax, MixD and all the people who seem to be behind this would make such a fuzz about such an unimportant technique in TM. And saying that it is a new mapping technique would be very lame of them.

Of course it isn't anything trivial like changing texture mipmaps. I have no idea why Skeleton would think that.

Just as a reminder, some of my inventions I've released for TrackMania over the last five years:
- mixmapping, i.e.
- block mixing on environments other than desert
- block mixing without using editor bugs
- using hidden blocks in a map
- custom map size
- building outside map area
- unlocked blocks in editor
- scapemixing

I didn't consider any of these things to be significant enough for me to bother organising a tournament for them. This new thing is something truly revolutionary for TM! Gogo signup to race as soon as possible! There's only room for 12 more teams!

Thanks MixD for clearing that up! And yeah...I knew it couldn't possibly be the mipmapping technique you were going to present, considering the impact of your previous achievements. I'm really looking forward to this and I guess I'm going to be pumped up all day on the 12th awaiting the news :D So in the words of MixD: gogo signup ^^

Thanks for the videos, really impressive indeed  Just too bad that TMNF players won't be able to use it...guess they are gonna have to buy TMU then ^^
Once the bases are free to download I'm going to be curious which environment car fits the best for Stadium. Also noticed that the Bay environment with Stadium car would be really great for RPG's :D
