[Request] Masts [Closed]

Postby eie » 09.08.2010, 18:46

Don't know if I should post here, or on beta-forum, but here goes:

I'm finished with the building part of my new rpg, but I'm still in need of some models, and since I failed to import models from Blender 2.5, and Blender doesn't have this scalebug to make huge models, I thought I'd rather see how helpful community we got here =)

Ok so I need three masts as you can see; and it would be nice if someone please could make them (red coloured)

Mast1(the on in the front)
x1(the part under the sail): 3 block-length(s)
x2(the sail part, not the sail itself): 10 block-length(s)
x3(the part over the sail): 1 block-length(s)
total height: 14

Mast2(the on in the middle)
x1(the part under the sail): 2 block-length(s)
x2(the sail part, not the sail itself): 14 block-length(s)
x3(the part over the sail): 1(or 2(1 1/2 could go too)) block-length(s)
total height: 18

Mast3(the on in the back)
x1(the part under the sail): 2 block-length(s)
x2(the sail part, not the sail itself): 8 block-length(s)
x3(the part over the sail): 1 block-length(s)
total height: 11

and for the width; as you can see from the second image, they're all 3(three) block-length(s) wide.

and for a little less important thing:

I also need two other models, on 6-2-1(the red one) and one cube which has the same height as invisible water road, or that jump you can see there =)

About texturing: I can do this myself if you don't want to, but just if you want to; please remember that I'm going to use these blocks for The Pirate Bay-mod, so make sure the texture fits.

If anyone please could help me with this, I would be very thankful, and I don't know any reward I could give, so if there's anything you want in return, I'll see what I can do ^^

Thanks_eie

I know! like maybe an abandoned factory, or some really crazy pyramids, or maybe even a kitchen!

I'm talking about a model of it though, not the actual block ...

not exactly.. you're probably pointing to the falling/moving blocks? what I mean is that you have a model of the marked size in the screenshot, and add water to the block, then it looks like you are driving on top of that model. the model could be very different from the mod and even or be semi-transparent so it looks like a really cool effect, not only invi driving etc

That's why I got the idea, because I have really cool ideas, now please could anyone make the three masts, and the red and blue block? ^^ =)

take the four powers or montezuma model and dont trust other ppl to make models for you ^^
for the water level block, i didnt understand if you want only the height of the water, or one block + the water?

I just want a cubic block which has the same height as the water bottom (blue block) and another block (the red one) which is just like the 6-2-1 block.
Then i want 3three masts, and I can't make any of these myself, so the only thing I can do is to rely on other >_>

I guess the only chance you will have for someone making these models is to ask sol666 directly. I don't know if he reads these posts so I would try to contact him on tmx.

the red block is already here in the database. you can simply change the textures to whatever you need. if you want to make it fit for a mod, StadiumCircuitD.dds is the side part - rename to Details.dds, StadiumPlatformD.dds is the top and bottom part - rename to Diffuse.dds. model can be found at http://www.trackmania-rpg.com/index.php?page=DownloadDBData&dataID=30

the blue block is no problem i think, i used something similar in "the cydonia incident". wasn't a block, just a surface though, but i also used it to make water visible.

the masts: i think i understood what you mean, i'll see what i can do. might take some days though, i won't be home the next days.

I'd think it will be better if the blue block is a block, and not only a surface, but thanks for showing me that 6-2-1 block =)

as this is a car skin, textures won't show any transparency. so better use this onjly for solid textures.

I think I've seen a transparent car, so I can't understand this quite right ... still I don't think I have to worry about this anyway, as I'm going to use rocky texture :)

Masts: thank you very much =)=)

the only way to make a car transparent is to use glass as material. there are some "ghost-skins" around, but it will never look like the transparency of dds files.

edit: do you need three models for the masts or one model including all masts?

I think it would be better with three seperate models, since you can't tell the distance between the masts ;)

the 6-2-1 block has a shiny surface, and is much larger compared to other 6-2-1 blocks on the gorund.
perfect ^^, not too hard to find the secret entrance now =)

but could you please not do this to the blue block? would look kinda weird I think... (it's caused by the Diffuse.dds, isn't it? :s)
and again; the mod:
I'm using The Pirate Bay mod, by Hawkger (http://www.vinummusik.de/Trackmania/ThePirateBay.zip)

the shiny surface is indeed caused by the diffuse.dds - you could try to make the alpha channel very dark to avoid it. alternativele, i could change the materials, than the sides would become shiny. unfortunately, it is almost impossible to put both textures to details.dds, as this would cause a big loss of quality due to the tileable textures. in my maps i needed only the sideview, so i put that into details.dds.

the seize: blocks on the ground are "smaller" (variation 2: 16). i needed the original seize, also no problem to make a model of the variation.

the blue block: depends on what you need as textures. i could add all textures to details.dds, would only make it impossible to use the textures from a mod if you want the sideparts looks different than the top and bottom (along with the loss of quality i mentioned).

well I'll just keep that 6-2-1 block as it is, since it looks more suspicious now :p (or else people would probably just ignore the block if it looks exactly like all other block)

I need a texture that fits the mod, it doesn't even have to be from the mod or anything, just that I would think a shining block would look mostly weird, due to the mod, it just doesn't fit :s I think I'll just have the same patterns on sides/top then, if it's so hard ^^ just as long as it fits =)
