Is that unique for the stadium fan, or can we create more similar textures? I probably got my hopes too high there :b

Why can't the invisible road be as straight as water? can't you just create a longer and straight block? :d

It can be any shape.

Those objects work in editor great, problem i found out today it that game crash when i try to calculate shadows :(.

Link, to try just extract archive in Blocks/Stadium.

In case anyone wants to try out some stadium blocks in 3d programs here's a download for a few ripped blocks (all circuit blocks, most dirt blocks and other stuff):
http://www.vinummusik.de/Media/rippedblocksstad.zip
(you should be able to open these files in Blender and Max, dunno about other programs)
The blocks all have no texture, that was not possible for me to rip. Else I think they should work just fine.
I also have some blocks from Canyon, SM, Rally, Island, Desert, Coast....you need to PM me for those though.

Do you know if TM supports files from Blender? I know you can *export* files to .3ds, and let TM import these objects to TM-readable files, but last time I tried that it was broken. This was a few years ago(2010), but I don't know what the current situation is, so it'd be nice to know this =)

Thanks, and in any case, TM2 is looking good.

Edit: I googled myself instead (I'm that smart :P) and it's currently still *broken* although the old method still work (use an old version of blender for export with a export-plugin: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/glaucobacchi/Blender3dsExport.zip [works with 2.45 & 2.48])

Thanks

(Btw, I editsed my message above if you didn't notice, but I think your thing works better =)

I talked to Maxi031 yesterday and he said that Blender export works for him but that the shadows are really bugged. That's why he is forced to use 3dsmax now. But better try it out yourself in Blender, eie. Might be that it works for you :)

I made a small 8x8x8 object today with rough edges and a desert stone texture. It's amazing for Pyramid building...made this one in a few minutes:

oh my fcking god, I love custom objects now

Edit: I have another question:

Do all custom objects have "the same material"? So do they all behave like normal platform blocks,
or can they be different, according to the physics of the surface?

Golo: surfaces can have different physics, here a few examples <PhysicalId> = among list {"Concrete", "Grass", "Metal","Dirt", "Rock", "Stone", "Wood", "NotCollidable"}

Ok. Ty, i'll look to that. What i think would be cool is that we could place trees on the stadium blocks, so we don't have to mix them with the grass ones, and maybe we would even have better looking trees!?

sure, we can have better looking trees :D Organic shapes are not easy to model though, so it might take a while till the first 3d object tree pops up ;)
Here are a few objects I made (not for RPG specifically though):

follow the thread closely here: mania-creative

also, since the source code of Unlimiter is publicly available in that topic, if someone is interested.

hm, for some reason all the posts about that guy MixExpress picking up the TmUnlimiter project have been deleted. i wonder what's going on. have you guys heard any news?

I like how you've just casually made something epic =)

http://www.vinummusik.de/Trackmania2/Screens/customblocksPlatformSetManiaPark3.jpg
About new platform blocks, since you've made a platform block an angle of 90*1/4, and a block with the angle 90 * 1/2 already exist, might just finish and make a block with the angles 90*3/4 and maybe a 90? and might you just make transition blocks between these? I want to make an epic loop :P

Somehow I can't picture your idea. If I make the angle even steeper I can't see how that would connect to any loop or any other block for that matter....
Maybe you mean something like this?
Image
Just rotated one of my objects to get that effect. The transition to the loop if you come from above is quite nice. And also it's really fun to go downhill there if you place several of those blocks on top of each other...the transitions between them are perfect. Just don't know if that's what you meant...

I meant if you solely use platform blocks to make looping. And I meant you'd use curved platforms (as transition block) between the flat platforms to go full circle and make a gigantic loop.
Image
the black represent flat platform surfaces, the red are curved platform surfaces (ideally maybe they should be longer, (less steep)) and the black 3/4 ring at the end are normal looping blocks. I imagine if the platformblocks are also symmetrical, you could make a full looping consisting only of those platformblocks.

Edit: sorry for bad cropping ^^

You could try to create them like that so they the car wont bounce up the looping as it does now. When you look to eie's example you would need an angle of ~95 degrees instead of 90.

hmm okay now I understand. I have to say though that it's very unlikely that I would ever get that working properly. I would have to make 4 transition pieces separately proabably. And it would be very tricky to get them working smoothly. I had enough problems already with those other blocks...took me ages to get them smooth. Don't think having such a small piece to work with would make things easier ^^
So yeah....I could probably make 20 of those column objects in the time I finish that giant loop...so I'm gonna do just that....sry
Oh and btw. have you ever driven the loops in Canyon? They are soooooooooo boring. Way too large. I don't think it would be different in Stadium..

The loopings in canyon are boring because they're all the same. If you could divide the loop into individual pieces, you could put together a much more interesting loop (or a tunnel). Actually remove the parenthesises: Or a TUNNEL. That could be made without those transitions, it would make it 16-gon =))

All those models are terrific btw ^^ try making some *broken* pillars as well, that'd make some look more unique.
