Need music advice on new EPIC video

Postby HawkGer » 08.01.2013, 21:35

Okay, forgive the use of the "EPIC" in the title. It was just to get your attention :D
Now that you are here, maybe you could help me choose the music for my next video.
The video will go on for about 33 minutes in a style like this:

I was thinking about not using any music at all and just telling the viewer to start listening to their own music....but then again some may think the video is lame for not having any music.
So I'm stuck there. I don't have any idea on my own how to fill the 33 minutes with some kind of music...

Any ideas guys?

Oh and if you have any suggestions on how to improve the actual video, feel free to do so.

the problem is that there are so many different themes in that video....basically all the RPG atmospheres in one video. So it would need to be something generic I guess. Not anything like in the RPG video from Babso.
The different segments are always 5 seconds apart. So I guess that helps with creating some kind of rhythm. But it needs to be a subtle rhythm, else you would go crazy I think :D

Remember it needs to be 33 minutes long, so it needs to have some variation too. I don't know if you can do that. But if you could try, that would be amazing. I'm not promising anything though. If I don't like your music, I won't take it :D

not quite sure if youre searching sth athmospherical or rather easy listening...

maybe some chillout mix like this?:

If it should be rather just ambient maybe this:

btw are you showing all good RPGs in the last time in that video? (if its over 30 minutes long :o?)

I think it can be ambient or an easy-listening track, either would fit I guess. From the three you linked I liked the first one the most though. I will pick that one for the video if there will be no alternatives which are even better.
The second one was too trancy and the last one too repetitive....but I liked the style.

Shorty....sorry...I don't like yours very much ;)

Edit: oh and yeah...I'm gonna be showing about 400 rpgs in this video. That's about all RPGs that are decent to watch from above the stadium :D

I didn't get to listen to your track today eie, had to finish the 426 clips. It's finally done
I will decide on the music tomorrow. Thanks Nunquam, I think I will find something, but I appreciate the offer :)
Btw. does anyone know how the music licenses are handled on youtube? Can I just use the music that you guys linked or is there some kind of process involved?

Okay guys, what do you think of the intro and outro?
Is it too laggy?

I decided on Golo's music for now...

The intro is a bit laggy imo, and the outro could be less laggy too, but I think it'd be most important to fix the intro =)

Also, would it be too much to ask for release dates beside the names? if not, that'd be nice =)

okay, I'm gonna try to fix the lag issues. Not sure if I will succeed though. Those tracks are really some challenge for my PC...
For the dates I'm trying to add some kind of timeline at the bottom with the Months as an indicator. Would be too much work to add the exact dates...and it's jumping back and forth quite some anyway. The tracks are not completely in chronological order.
I first have to figure this out in Premiere Pro though. Don't know yet how to add some kind of image :D
Everything in the intro and outro was done inside the MT editor.....

hmm the framerate in Fraps or the framerate in Premiere?
If I increase the framerate in Fraps by just 5 fps the lag gets way worse. And I think increasing it in Premiere won't do much good, will it? :S

Omg this video will be so much awesome... :golly:
Just one thing to say, maybe you should put the authors names going from bottom to top, to have the time to read. Or maybe, just let each bunch of names a bit longer on the screen.
That's only my opinion ^^

The soundtracks fit perfectly, I love it. :)

I had the author names going from bottom to top at first...but then I changed it all again...a ton of work.
The problem was that the video was way too hectic that way.
I might change the timing though. It's just that the track crashes every few minutes when editing the MT....very annoying...

Ah ok, I see.
Indeed, changing the timing would be probably ok. But I don't want to force you to change it all again, I can imagine the load of work to do it
I really don't understand why the tracks crashes often...pretty puzzling
